Are you a fan of crispy, crunchy snacks? Do you like cheese? Sonoma Creamery’s Pizza Crisps are bite-sized, seasoned mozzarella crisps. Pepperoni contains bits of pepperoni and enough tomato to redden the chips. Veggie Supreme is dotted with black olive pieces and parsley, while Tomato Basil is spiked with dried basil.
How Did It Taste?
I invited the family to taste test the three flavors of Sonoma Creamery’s Pizza Crisps. The kids’ clear favorite was Pepperoni – the two-ounce bag disappeared instantaneously. Tomato Basil was my favorite. There’s enough of basil’s anise tang amidst the tomato umami to brighten the cheese. Veggie Supreme was not a winner straight out of the bag. While I did not mind the olive, the overall flavor of the chip tasted flat. No one asked for more of this flavor.
Game-changer
When I crushed up the chips and served them as a topper for salad, especially Caesar salad Veggie Supreme came out on top. It added a bit of crunch, a bit of dense olive flavor and a bit of salt to an otherwise one-texture salad experience.
In Sum
Call These Pizza Crisps “Fancy Chips”
We would buy Pepperoni again. Delicious on their own. I’d think twice about Tomato Basil and Veggie Supreme before purchase. These flavors make a nice addition to a party or game day spread and can be eaten on their own but their flavorful home was as a sprinkle atop other foods. There, the big character of the chips is softened a bit while adding dimensionality to other foods.
