White eggs never taste as good as brown but they color up nicely with dye. And so, my ok boiled eggs need a little extra love to become excellent stuffed eggs. Sour cream and curry, a dash of vinegar and mustard, and three types of diced fresh herbs (tarragon, basil, parsley). Two types of onion, too. Always a hit.

Is there anything that quite compares to eating fresh sea urchin, right out of the, ummmm…shell? On a recent trip to Santa Barbara, we spent the morning at a butterfly over-wintering eucalyptus forest in nearby Goleta. That was an incredible experience, followed by another wow: fresh sea urchin at the Santa Barbara Fish Market in Goleta. Served with finger lime and lemon, the urchin was still wiggling when my server brought it to my table. All I needed was a tiny spoon to scoop out the gonads for maximum deliciousness. Yummmmmmm.

Did you know that March is Women’s History Month? I had nothing planned until I found out about the pop-up dinner series from esteemed female chefs at Copia. There are two more dinners left this month, Daniela Vergara of Estiatorio Ornos in San Francisco and Dara Yu of Congee & Crullers in LA.
I had the pleasure of dining the night Jen Jasinski of Denver’s Rioja was in town. That velouté is vegan, y’all! And her lamb saddle was the best I’ve ever eaten. I@loved trying the food of a new-to-me chef and recommend it as something delicious to do this month. Honor a woman chef, me says. No matter where you live.

One of the best parts of my weekend in Paso Robles

One of the best parts of my weekend in Paso Robles was lunch @ettopastabar -- it's so cute! -- and getting to tour the pasta factory next door with owner Brian Terrizzi. He even put on his pasta crown while showing us one of the extruders. 100% adorable. The market is stocked with all kinds of Italian products, some made in and around Paso and some imported from Italy. It's tucked into @tincitypasorobles which has tons of teeny wineries like @zanoliwines and @jacobtoftwines and lots of restaurants. I could've spent much more time exploring.

Need a delightful way to celebrate Women’s History Month? I recommend supporting your favorite chef! I had the honor of experiencing @chefjenjasinski ‘s cuisine at The Grove restaurant at the CIA at Copia in Napa. Just one of a series of chefs popping up there this month, chef Jasinski’s cooking is a showcase of French technique and local ingredients. She normally cooks at her restaurants in Denver. I could’ve eaten five bowls of her vegan cauliflower velouté but the dish of the night was the stunning Colorado lamb saddle. I loved the potato mille feuille alongside the sturgeon, too. #happiness

Do you sense the ombré colors rolling up the hill @ninerwineEstates? We walked up to that divot where the trees are —the heart of Heart Hill — and sat under their canopy to enjoy a tasting. Perfect weather for it!
