Cafe Strega from my new guest blogger, my Mom, Ellenor

Café Strega, Plymouth, MA

My husband, Bill and I recently visited Plymouth, Mass. About an hour south of Boston on the way to Cape Cod, this is not a city known for its culinary landmarks. However we found a wonderful romantic Italian restaurant overlooking the Brewster Gardens, Café Strega.

The service was just right and the food perfect. Our first bottle of wine was the wrong choice for our meal and without batting an eyelid they took it back and brought us our second choice – with no charge for the first one. For an appetizer, we shared an iceberg wedge with onions, walnuts, olives and of course the required blue cheese dressing. It was very good. Bill had meatballs and spaghetti which was great and I had fusilli pasta with lightly pounded beef rolled up with pecorino and prosciutto. The flavors were really terrific and the two different tomato sauces that accompanied these dishes were light and full of flavor

The prices were fair to our New York sensibilities (I cannot judge the prices for the region). It was a delightful evening and if you are in the area, you should visit them. We are already looking forward to a return visit the next time we are in Plymouth.
