Back again? So soon after your recent visit?
A visit to the nearby Discovery Museum brought me back to Farley Bar, this time with sister-in-law, nephew and my 18-month old son in tow. With no spots available on the porch, we opted to sit in the bar ~ a great choice with noisy kids as it was empty ~ everyone was on the porch! We were offered a kid’s menu which included fruit, macaroni and cheese, your choice of protein and a selection of desserts for $15. Wow. Lukas had the fish sticks and Jakob had the hamburger and both Moms were pleased.
The food was once again pitch-perfect. Dungeness crab salad BLT on hearty bread won over my skeptical “California cuisine” in-law and the sweet pea gazpacho with citrus & fennel-frond float was a revelation in ‘fresh’ & ‘spring-like’. No added fat gave the delicate pea a chance to shine and the soup was bright rather than heavy.
A glass each of Roederer Estate, L’Ermitage, Brut, Anderson Valley and a Pey Marin Riesling worked equally well with both dishes.
Ah! Spring!
