It’s been — what? — 15 years since I’ve be It’s been — what? — 15 years since I’ve been to Miami. So until the other night, I was not aware of chef @brad_kilgore and his work. That is, until I stepped into @cafe_sebastian_sf . It’s at ground level, across the now-open-to-the-public, entirely renovated little park next to the TransAmerica building. I was there for dinner. Welcome Chef to the Bay Area by trying his stunner of a salad (all the textures), the dairy-free chicken liver parfait (those confited onions) and vegan mushroom au poivre maitakes. Wow! 
So excited to have this new voice on the culinary scene in NorCal. And his commitment to the FiDi.

On a rainy winter night, I felt cocooned in warmth. The room thrums with energy, happy eaters and drinkers, me thinks.

Ack! I really don’t like posting pictures of mys Ack! I really don’t like posting pictures of myself—makes me feel like Icarus flying too close to the sun—but Stefan took a nice one while we were at Radhaus. Such a great spot to kick-start the year — a nicely executed Jägerschnitzel with mushroom cream sauce (classic), not too sour pickles and a döner (modern classic) with fries. Stefan drank his liter of beer (when in Rome…) while I had a Teutonic cider. The place was buzzing—not an empty seat in the house. A great way to spend a holiday afternoon.

Bean Boozled— surprisingly popular with the teen Bean Boozled— surprisingly popular with the teen set. And only $5.99 at AJ’s. “I can’t believe I kept ‘dead fish’ down,”Lukas said. “‘Barf’ is so nasty,” said Niki. 

Neither could tolerate “wet dog.” Riotous laughter from the adults as the boys spun the dial and prepared to spit into the sink.

No “bleak midwinter” here. That song is one of my favorites, no matter where I spend Christmas.
